COACHING

Your relationships are only as healthy as the one you have with yourself.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate “

CARL JUNG

We all want to have healthy and loving relationships. But why is it that it seems to come so easily to some people and yet so difficult for others?

It’s often very easy to dismiss those in successful relationships as lucky, often lamenting that they simply found the ‘right’ person, but the deeper truth is that a happy relationship starts with us as individuals.

Sounds simple right?

Well it can be ... but for many of us it's much more complicated than that.

We all have a default lens for relationships, shaped by unconscious thoughts and behaviours learned in childhood and these have a profound  influence on how we approach dating, relationships and even the way we break up.

If we were lucky enough to have healthy relationships modelled for us, we likely adopted positive behaviours and in the main enjoy satisfying, happy relationships.

However for many of us this isn’t the case.  Persistent toxic relationship patterns, co-dependent dynamics, an inability to sustain a relationship or the tendency to attract the ‘wrong’ partner,  are all signs that somewhere along the way, we missed some healthy relational development. And yet, for the most part, we will be entirely unaware that it is the way in which we are showing up, that is contributing and exacerbating these unhealthy patterns.

But here's  how coaching can help…

Through coaching, we can uncover the hidden patterns that have been holding us back and subtly sabotaging our happiness and chances for genuine connection. And once we have this newfound awareness, we’re in a much better position to develop the skills and abilities needed to build loving and connected partnerships.

And it's a new way of doing things…

Typically when we think of relationships and counselling, we picture two people in the room. But here’s where we can get sidetracked, because the moment we start to focus on the other person, we’re looking in the wrong place. We can’t change someone else’s behaviour, and if we’re constantly thinking about how they’re feeling or what they are (or aren’t) doing, we lose sight of the most important thing - what’s happening inside of you.

This is why, regardless of whether you are single, in a relationship, or going through a separation, coaching puts the focus back on you. Because it’s only when we truly understand what’s going on in our inner world, that our relationships can change for the better.

    Get in touch here

  • Both - currently I see clients from all over the world, online via Zoom or if they're local and their preference is in-person, then I see clients at my home office in Totnes, Devon.

  • During the call, I’ll get to know your situation better and walk you through the requirements of the coaching program that best fits your needs. You'll have the chance to share where you are in your life, any difficulties you're experiencing, your hopes and intentions, and any worries or fears you might have about whether coaching is right for you.

If you feel like we’re a good fit and the programme meets your needs, we can then arrange times and dates for the 10 weekly sessions.

  • Weekly or fortnightly sessions work best for coaching because they help build momentum and a regular schedule helps lead to the best outcomes. That said,  I know how easy it is for  life to  get in the way, so we can always adjust the program to fit your availability.

  • Yes. Everything you share with me is kept confidential, except in the case of risk of harm to yourself or others. This will be discussed during the consultation and more details are provided in the consent forms.

  • The 10 week coaching programme costs £1000

1:1 sessions outside of the programme are £85 per hour.

I have a small amount of concessionary rate sessions for those on low income and students.

Please contact me if you would like to discuss.

  • Yes, you can split your payment into two payments, paid over the course of the 10 weeks if needed.

  • Nope. While the programme primarily addresses romantic relationships, the same principles apply to any relationships such as friendships, professional, family or parenting relationships.

  • Generally speaking, coaching is more focused on helping you achieve your future goals, while psychotherapy tends to have more of a past and present focus. That said, examining the past and identifying the limiting self beliefs that may have formed there, is a large focus of the coaching programme.

Psychotherapy often focuses on moving from a state of dysfunction to functionality, while coaching primarily aims to help already healthy individuals reach their fullest potential.
